Autism and ABA Services

Denali Care Services provides quality, compassionate services for individuals diagnosed with Autism or those who may be experiencing delays or deficits and may benefit from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA.)

Our behavior analysts and technicians provide ABA services for clients in the comfort of their own homes, clinics, communities, and schools. We believe that all of the individuals have their own strengths that need to be built upon and not changed. We do not want to “cure” or “fix” anyone. We want to create independent and successful individuals in whatever way is most beneficial to them.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication. However, talking about what a person can’t do or do as well as their peers can be demoralizing. Here at DCS, we like to celebrate our differences as strengths. Those with ASD often excel in areas such as attention to detail, observations skills, creativity, integrity, resilience, and many more. We celebrate a different way of thinking and what that can add to the world we live in.

Applied Behavior Analysis at Denali Care Services

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy is an applied science, used for the treatment of autism and related learning or social disorders to reduce challenging behaviors and increase functional skills. ABA can teach many new behaviors that will help each individual meet their goals. Using fun and positive teaching styles, based on science and research, we can work on skills like helping to promote independence with daily living skills like toileting, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene as well as learning how to communicate with others, play and socialize with peers as well as help to teach stress reduction and coping skills during difficult situations. ABA is provided either one-on-one or in a group setting by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®) and a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT™) who will implement and take data on programs detailed in the treatment plan.

Our behavior analysts and technicians provide ABA services for clients in the comfort of their own homes, communities, and schools.

  • Errorless Teaching

Errorless teaching is a way of teaching that prevents a child from making mistakes as they are learning a new skill. The child is prompted to make the correct response immediately, ensuring a correct response each time. The prompt is then slowly faded in order to promote accuracy with the least amount of errors and frustration.

  • Visual Support

Visual support refers to using a picture or other visual item to communicate with a child who has difficulty understanding or using language. Visual supports can be photographs, drawings, objects, written words, or lists.

  • Differential Reinforcement

Differential reinforcement is used to reinforce behaviors we want to increase while withholding reinforcement from behaviors that may cause harm or can hinder a child’s success.

  • Verbal Behavior

Verbal behavior encourages the child to learn language by connecting words to their purpose. The child learns that words can help them get desired objects or results. Verbal behavior programs teach why we use words and how they are useful in making requests and communicating ideas.

  • Discrete Trial Teaching

Discrete trial teaching is a method of teaching in simplified and structured steps. Instead of teaching an entire skill in one go, the skill is broken down and built up using discrete trials that teach each step one at a time.

  • Natural Environment Teaching (NET)

Natural Environment Teaching focuses on naturalistic learning through play or learning in the natural setting. This means that teaching isn’t just occurring at a desk or table located in a therapy room, but in a variety of settings.

  • Pivotal Response Treatment

This play-based therapy targets pivotal areas of a child’s development instead of working on one specific behavior. Pivotal areas include motivation, response to multiple cues, self-management, and initiation of social interactions.
